This year, I’m switching it up. Instead of setting yearly goals (and then feeling defeated when I don’t reach them), I’m setting intentions for the year. I’m visualizing the person I want to be and how I want to feel on a daily basis and then setting specific intentions to be help me be that person. My plan is to set more actionable goals each month with the hopes that the much shorter time frame will keep me focused and motivated.
In her book The Desire Map, Danielle LaPorte teaches that everything we do is because we want to feel a certain way. And instead of the setting goals on what we want to gain, we should set goals based on how we want to feel, based on our core desired feelings. I’m a big believer in identifying your core desired feelings and using those as a compass to you set your goals and intentions. Here are my core desired feelings for 2020:
Lucrative
producing wealth : PROFITABLE
Grounded
mentally and emotionally stable : admirably sensible, realistic, and unpretentious
Clear
free from obscurity or ambiguity : easily understood, free from doubt : SURE unhampered by restriction or limitation
Courageous
having or showing mental or moral strength to face danger, fear, or difficulty
Focused
distinct vision, to cause to be concentrated, CONCENTRATE, to concentrate attention or effort
Based on my core desired feelings, I’ve identified a list of intentions that will help me feel the way I want to feel.
